| 3/13/20: Here are some more projects that were destined for the Artworks Show! 3/06/20: Both grade levels have been working hard to create projects, with an eye toward sending them to the Artworks art show at LincolnWay next weekend. Unfortunately, the show has been cancelled. So, I'm featuring some of the works that were chosen to represent our school. 2/04/20: Wow, this week flew by!! Both grade levels worked on their projects that they started last week. Here are some pictures of the Pop Hearts that 5th grade finished. 4th grade will put the finishing touches on their Scream paintings this week. 1/24/20: 4th grade has been reviewing the use of foreground, middleground and background to create a feeling of depth in art. They just started a fun painting project based on Edvard Munch's painting, Scream! It will incorporate the three grounds, along with some hair raising reasons to scream! 5th grade learned the definition of Pop Art, saw some great examples, and analyzed the style of Burton Morris. They began a pop art heart project that borrows heavily from elements of his artwork. More pictures next week!! 1/17/20: Color is exciting! We've been exploring color theory in fun and interesting ways. 4th graders created patterns on coffee filters using markers. Then they sprayed their artwork with water and watched the magic begin! The colors blended into new colors and we used the color chart to determine why. 5th graders also tried some color mixing...using shaving cream!! They splattered acrylic paint onto a bed of shaving cream, used q-tips to swirl the patterns, and then pressed card stock into the foam. Finally, they wiped the foam off for the "big reveal". The results were interesting marbled patterns! 1/10/20: We started art this week! Both grade levels are creating sketchbooks that will be housed here at school for the semester. The books will be used for practicing techniques, planning projects, and sloppy copies. Students decorated them with their name and favorite drawings. Next week: COLOR review!! |
